About me

An Aussie, who as of 2011 has been adrift from Australia for 13 years. We were only coming for 2 years…  best laid plans n all that..  I’ve spent pretty much my entire adult life working in radio, having stumbled accidentally into a radio station at the age of 15 for school work experience.

I grew up in a mining town in the official middle of nowhere in Australia, a place called Mt Isa.  People over here take the mickey out of “being from the bush”.  But you know what? I had brilliant and pretty much innocent childhood , enjoyed going to boarding school in Brisbane and got to move around Oz for work. When we decided to move to England, it opened the door to travelling all over the U.S, living in Dublin, jobs across the U.K and holidaying in Europe. Not bad for a Mt Isan.

At the moment I live in Oxford England. I work at two radio stations called glide fm107.9 and 106 JACK fm. There’s a couple of other Jack’s in the country now. But we were the first, and in less than 3 years we’ve become the most awarded local radio station in the UK ever. 28 wins or at least “runners up” in the Sony Radio Academy Awards, The Arqvia Commercial Radio Awards, The New York Radio Awards, and the PAMs.

People ask “HOW DO YOU DO IT”. My answer is a brilliant (yet so tiny) passionate bunch of people I’d be proud to have as friends even if we weren’t shoe-horned into a dumpy building 14 hours a day.

I love taking pictures, travelling the world and visiting friends. Sadly I don’t get half as much time to do those things as I’d like.

The reason for the blog is practical actually. I spent a couple of years writing a weekly column for the Oxford Mail called Sassy and Single (thanks Jeremy for that). I knew one day I will drop my laptop (again) or spill tea in it (again) and that would be the end of all my documents. It also gives me a chance to throw some photos in.

So this is kind of my online backup.
